Karen reached national attention on season 10 of American Idol, where she blew audiences away with powerful renditions of “Hero” by Mariah Carey, “If You Had My Love” by Jennifer Lopez, “Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars, and “No Me Queda Más” by Selena. Karen became the first bilingual finalist on the show. Post American Idol, Karen sang background vocals on Marc Anthony’s #1 smash “Vivir Mi Vida” which led to a meeting with Romeo Santos. Romeo asked her to collaborate as a writer on his second album, Formula, Vol 2. Karen co-wrote three songs with Romeo from the project; “Odio” featuring Drake, “Trust” featuring Tego Calderón, and “Gone Forever.” Karen also wrote the Spanish translation of “Somebody” by Natalie La Rose featuring Jencarlos Canela and Kevin Roldan, which was performed at the 2015 Latin American Music Awards. In 2015, Karen began releasing Spanglish covers of popular songs on her YouTube channel. Her Spanish translations of Drake’s “Hotline Bling” and Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” have over 3.5 million YouTube views each to date. Her Spanglish cover of Adele’s “Hello” went viral, surpassing over 10 million YouTube views, and charted #5 on US iTunes Latino chart and #7 Billboard Latin Digital charts. In late 2016, Karen officially signed to Roc Nation Latin under her mentor Romeo Santos and began to work on new music. Earlier this year, Karen released her first original song in Spanish, “La Tonta De Abril”, and in English, “Happy April Fools” – both versions produced by Romeo Santos. The debut video was shot in Coney Island with production house Scheme Engine and premiered on E! Online and People En Español’s Chica.com. SOURCE: http://rocnation.com/karen-rodriguez/

77 imagesOzomatli's latest recording is an album of classic and contemporary Mexican hits reimagined with a Jamaican feel. Titled Nonstop: Mexico → Jamaica, it pays homage to the music that many of the band members grew up listening to, inspiring them to reconnect and reinterpret songs that defined their youth. Produced by drum & bass reggae legends, Sly & Robbie (Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Madonna, No Doubt) and featuring various high profile guest vocalists, the album reflects the bands multi-genre influences as well as their travels around the world. Originally conceived as a tribute to Mariachi and Norteño music, the band decided to expand the concept and include iconic and current artists and cover more eras. Pairing reggae, ska, rocksteady and dancehall rythm's with a variety of Mexican musical genres spoke to the band’s desire to do something unique for its 20th anniversary. It was also critical to include songs written by artist that represent the vast diversity of Mexico's population. SOURCE: http://ozomatli.com

18 imagesGLAUDI is inspired by generations of the strongest people who influenced fashion in my life! My grandmother who passed away of breast cancer in El Salvador was a designer and my mother Gladis Hernandez inherited her talents alongside my father Jose Hernandez. They were all a big influence in my career as a child. My parents, Jose & Gladis Hernandez, came to the U.S. from El Salvador to achieve theAmerican dream. Due to my mother’s experience with garments in El Salvador they were able to find jobs quickly at sweat shops. Since we were a low income family my parent’s would bring me along with them to their job over the weekends. At the sweat shops I would observe while they worked and I loved it! I’m thankful to God for that experience as a child. Never did I know fashion design would be my career, but God always has a plan. Because of my parent’s humble beginnings I learned at a young age how to create designs for the masses. GLAUDI was created to share with the world what my family inherited in the real world of fashion. My middle name and mother’s name is Gladis and GLAUDI is my life in fashion! I love by the following saying: “GOD IS FABULOUS, PRAISE HIM.” -JOHANA HERNANDEZ FOUNDER/C.E.O of GLAUDI SOURCE: http://www.glaudicollection.com

51 imagesFor Fifth Harmony, 2014 was a whirlwind year that started strong and never let up. The all-female five-piece headed out on the road with Demi Lovato in February, kicked off their own headlining tour in late spring, joined Austin Mahone (along with The Vamps and Shawn Mendes) for a national summer tour, and in August claimed the much-coveted Artist To Watch prize at the MTV Video Music Awards. In the midst of all the frenzy—which also included Mattel’s launch of a line of Barbie dolls made in the likeness of each Fifth Harmony member—Dinah Jane Hansen, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke Hernandez, Normani Kordei, and Camila Cabello took to the studio to create their full-length debut for Epic Records. Featuring the fierce, gold-certified lead single "BO$$" and its follow-up "Sledgehammer" (a synth-pop powerhouse penned by Meghan Trainor), Reflection offers up a gutsy, groove-heavy brand of dance-pop built on the most dynamic vocal performances Fifth Harmony have delivered so far. 26 imagesThe Crystal Cathedral spans a full 415-feet in length, 207-feet in width and 128-feet in height. The size of the Cathedral is enhanced by the all-glass covering that encloses the entire building. More than 10,000 windows of tempered, silver-colored glass are held in place by a lace-like frame of white steel trusses. These 16,000 trusses were specifically fabricated for this engineering feat. The sanctuary seats 2,736 persons including 1,761 seats on the main floor, 346 seats in the East and West Balconies, and 283 in the South Balcony. On the tenth anniversary of the Cathedral, celebrated on September 16, 1990, a beautiful 236-foot Bell Tower was dedicated. One of Orange County's tallest structures, the tower is comprised of highly polished, mirrored quality, stainless steel prisms forming a spectacular spire which catches the light from all directions. This Philip Johnson-designed completion of the Crystal Cathedral houses a 52-bell carillon named in honor of Dr. Schuller's wife, Arvella Schuller. At the base of the structure is an intimate prayer chapel named the Mary Hood Chapel. Inscribed above the marble walls of the chapel are the words "My House Shall Be Called A House of Prayer For All People." The spire has been named the Crean Tower honoring John and Donna Crean who provided a large gift to begin construction in 1988. I am very fortunate to be able to experience all these things with the help of very supporting sponsors - O'Neill, Nike 6.0, Von Zipper and Sticky Bumps. Enjoy! 21 imagesAlana Blanchard is the hotest surfer on the planet. For the past few years, as creepy as it may sound, she has captivated the thoughts and imagination of surf fans around the globe. Female surf fans respect her hard-charging, progressive shredding, and beautiful style. Male surf fans applaud all the surf-centric abilities Alana possesses - but while admiring her shred-attack, we guys can't help but marvel at her sheer hotness! She has a Lolita-like, come-hither stare combined with a body tuned like a pristine exotic racecar - Alana is the complete package of talent and beauty. SOURCE: http://transworldsurf.com Hailing from the North Shore of Kauai, young Alana Blanchard is destined to leave a mark in female professional surfing and well beyond...actually, she already has. At the young age of 15, Alana became the first female Pipeline Master dealing with conditions women surfers had yet to be given the chance to compete in. Her amateur accomplishments are endless: NSSA Nationals multi-finalist, NSSA Hawaii State Regional Champion, 2005 National GromSearch Champion, and the list goes on. Alana made her mark on the 2008 WQS proving she is one of the worlds best making the Dream Tour and showing the world just how good she was along the way. Alana became a hot household name when she graced the pages of Rolling Stone Mag as one of the Hottest Women in 2009 and indeed she is smoking hot. Upon first glance one would see her as the classic blonde surfer girl, but with the talent to back it up, Alana will be one to recon with for a long time to come. 22 imagesHUNTINGTON BEACH, California/USA (Sunday, August 8, 2010) - Local favorite Brett "simpo" Simpson (Huntington Beach, CA), 25, defeated current Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World No. 1 Jordy Smith (ZAF), 22, to win his second consecutive ASP PRIME US Open of Surfing presented by Hurley and Nike 6.0 title while clinching the highly sought after $100,000 check at South Huntington Beach Pier in two-to-four foot (1 metre) surf. SOURCE: © ASP World Tour If last year was a fairy tale win for local boy Brett Simpson, repeating this year was the blockbuster sequel. "It's almost unimaginable," he said "Two in row--this is the stuff that you don't even dream about." In inconsistent, waist high Huntington surf Simpo took out world number one Jordy Smith to win the US Open presented by Hurley and Nike. Smith came in on a roll, winning three of the last four comps he's done, but had somewhat of a shocker in the final. "I kinda sucked out there," Jordy joked afterward. That makes 200,000 dollars Simpson has won here in as many years. Perhaps the only thing sweeter than the big payout is the confidence booster of World Tour superstars he left in his wake. On his way to the final, he took out Dane Reynolds, Kelly Slater, and then finally Smith--three of the top four surfers in the world. Simpson is sitting at the number 24 spot on the World Tour, a bit too close for comfort for the mid-year chopping down to the top 32. And while he hasn't done as well as he'd like in his rookie year on the World Tour, he's getting very comfortable beating the world's best in Huntington. In fact, he won every heat he had at this year's comp. SOURCE: http://transworldsurf.net OFFICIAL WEB SITE: http://www.simplysimpo.com/

20 imagesHUNTINGTON BEACH, California/USA (Saturday, August 7, 2010) - Carissa Moore (Honolulu, HI), 17, won the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 6-Star Women's US Open of Surfing presented by Hurley and Nike 6.0 in a wave-starved Final over Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS), 19, at South Huntington Beach Pier to take out $50,000, the richest first place prize purse in women's surfing history. Sage Erickson (Ventura, CA), 19, also donated a standout performance today when she claimed the ASP Grade-2 Pro Junior in a stacked Final. Moore, who is currently competing in her rookie year on the ASP Women's Dream Tour, started off with two small scores to start the heat, and locked into a lefthander in the dying seconds of the heat to capitalize on her priority to clinch the 2010 Women's US Open of Surfing title over Fitzgibbons. "I was pretty nervous because I only had two 4 point scores," Moore said. "Sally (Fitzgibbons) is gnarly and is a great competitor and I knew when that last set came, if I didn't get on it Sally would have gotten the score easily. I'm just so on top of the world right now, I'm so psyched." The tough victory earned by Moore also saw the young Hawaiian take out the richest prize purse in women's surfing history and the talented natural-footer was beyond belief with her accomplishment. "It is really amazing to win this event," Moore said. "I just can't even believe it right now. It just seems really surreal. That Final went by so fast and I wish I could have done some more surfing, but I'm just really stoked." SOURCE: http://www.aspworldtour.com/
